TOP 10 ACTRESSES OF ALL TIME (BOLLYWOOD)





The term Bollywood is often incorrectly used to refer to the whole of Indian cinema; however, it is only a part of the large Indian film industry which produces movies in Hindi language. Here we present to you the Top 10 Actresses of all time from Bollywood.  


1) NARGIS (Fatima Rashid) 
One of her best-known roles was that of Radha in the Academy Award-nominated Mother India (1957), a performance that won her Best Actress trophy at the Filmfare Awards. Nargis married actor Sunil Dutt. A street in Bandra, Mumbai was renamed Nargis Dutt Road in her memory after her death.  


2) MADHURI DIXIT 
She has won six Filmfare Awards, four for Best Actress, one for Best Supporting Actress and one special Filmfare award for completing 25 years in Bollywood. She holds the record for the highest number of Best Actress nominations (13) at Filmfare. In 2008, she was awarded the Padma Shri, India's fourth-highest civilian award by the Government of India.  


3) WAHEEEDA REHMAN 
She is noted for her contributions to different genres of films from the 1950s, 1960s and early 1970s. She has received a Centenary Award for Indian Film Personality, a Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award, a National Film Award for Best Actress and two Filmfare Awards for Best Actress.  


4) MADHUBALA (Mumtaz Jehan Begum Dehlavi) 
She has been called the Marilyn Monroe of India. In the early 1950s, as Madhubala became one of the most sought-after actresses in India, she attracted interest from Hollywood. She appeared in the American magazine Theatre Arts where, in its August 1952 issue, she was featured in an article with a full page photograph under the title: "The Biggest Star in the World - and she's not in Beverly Hills".  


5) AISHWARYA RAI 
She has received several awards and nominations, including two Filmfare Awards, and was awarded with the Padma Shri by the Government of India in 2009, and the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the Government of France in 2012. She married actor Abhishek Bachchan in 2007.  


6) HEMA MALINI 
She was also known as ""Dream Girl"". She made her acting debut in Sapno Ka Saudagar.During her career, she has been nominated 11 times for the Filmfare Award for Best Actress, of which she won once in 1972. In 2000, she was presented with the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award. She is married to actor Dharmendra.  

7) KAJOL 
She has received six Filmfare Awards from eleven nominations, and along with her late aunt Nutan, holds the record for most Best Actress wins at Filmfare, with five. In 2011, the Government of India awarded her with the Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award of the country. 


8) RAKHEE 
She has won three Filmfare Awards and a National Film Award. Rakhee has been nominated 16 times (8 for Best Actress and 8 for Best Supporting Actress), making her the overall most-nominated performer in the female acting categories. Her last film was Shubho Mahurat in 2003, for which she won the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actress. She has since retired from the film industry.  


9) SHARMILA TAGORE 
She has won National Film Awards and Filmfare Awards for her performances and was awarded Padma Bhushan by the Government of India. She began her career as an actress in Satyajit Ray's 1959 Bengali film Apur Sansar.She married Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, the Nawab of Pataudi and former captain of the Indian cricket team, in a Nikkah ceremony held on 27 December 1969.  


10) REKHA 
She has won three Filmfare Awards, two for Best Actress and one for Best Supporting Actress. In 2010, she was honoured with the Padma Shri by the Government of India. She is renowned for her versatility and acknowledged as one of the finest actresses in Hindi cinema.
