1. Elliot's Beach
It is located in Besant Nagar. It forms the end-point of the Marina Beach shore and is named after Edward Elliot, the then Governor of Madras. It has Velankanni Church and Ashtalakshmi Kovil nearby.
2. Arignar Anna Zoological Park
It isalso known as the Vandalur Zoo, Vandalur a suburb in the southwestern part of Chennai, It is about 31 kilometres from the city centre and 15 kilometres from Chennai Airport.
3. Marina Beach
It is a natural urban beach in the city. The beach runs from near Fort St. George in the north to Besant Nagar in the south, a distance of 13 km making it the longest natural urban beach in the country and the world's second longest. The Marina used to be famed for its pristine beauty, jolly ambiance, and rich ecosystems. However, since the middle of the 20th century, the beach and its water has become polluted.
4. DakshinaChitra
It is a center for the living traditions of art, Crafts and architecture of India with an emphasis on the traditions of South India can be found here. The center occupies ten undulating acres overlooking the Bay of Bengal, at Muttukadu, twenty five kilometers south of Chennai, on the East Coast Road to Mamallapuram.
5. Covelong (Kovalam)
It is a fishing village in India, It is at a distance of 40 kilometres south of Chennai, on the East Coast Road en route to Mahabalipuram. Covelong was a port town developed by the Nawab of Carnatic, Saadat Ali. It was taken over by the French in 1746, and destroyed by the British in 1752.
6. San Thome Basilica
It is a Roman Catholic minor basilica in Santhome. It was built in the 16th century by Portuguese explorers, over the tomb of St Thomas, an apostle of Jesus.
7. Muttukadu
It is about a one hour drive south of Chennai and about a two hour drive north of Pondicherry. It is a very small town and one can find very few private taxis for hire. Muttukadu boat house is a water sport facility on the East Coast Road at Muttukadu, it offers rowing, wind surfing, water skiing, and speedboat riding.
8. The Parthasarathy Temple
IT is an 8th-century Hindu Vaishnavite temple dedicated to the god Krishna, The temple is glorified in the Divya Prabandha, the early medieval Tamil literature canon of the Alvar saints from the 6th–9th centuries CE and is classified as among the 108 Divya Desams dedicated to Vishnu. The name 'Parthasarathy', in Sanskrit, means the 'charioteer of Arjuna', referring to Krishna's role as a charioteer to Arjuna in the epic Mahabaratha.
9. The Anna Centenary Library
It is an established state library of the Government of Tamil Nadu. It is located at Kotturpuram, Chennai. Built at a cost of 172 crores, it is the one of the largest libraries in Asia.
10. Mahabalipuram
Also known as Mamallapuram is a town in Kancheepuram district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is around 60 km south from the city of Chennai.
