The term Bollywood is often incorrectly used to refer to the whole of Indian cinema; however, it is only a part of the large Indian film industry which produces movies in Hindi language. Here we present to you the top 10 movies from Bollywood.  


1) SHOLAY (1975) 
It is a Hindi action-adventure film directed by Ramesh Sippy and produced by his father G. P. Sippy. The film follows two criminals, Veeru and Jai (played by Dharmendra and Amitabh Bachchan), hired by a retired police officer (Sanjeev Kumar) to capture the ruthless dacoit (bandit) Gabbar Singh (Amjad Khan)..  


2) MOTHER INDIA (1950) 
It is a epic melodrama film, directed by Mehboob Khan and starring Nargis, Sunil Dutt, Rajendra Kumar, and Raaj Kumar.it is the story of a poverty-stricken village woman named Radha (Nargis) who, in the absence of her husband, struggles to raise her sons and survive against a cunning money-lender amidst many troubles.  


3) LAGAAN (2001) 
It is a epic sports drama film written and directed by Ashutosh Gowariker. Aamir Khan stars with Gracy Singh in the lead roles. The film is set in the Victorian period of India's colonial British Raj. The story revolves around a small village whose inhabitants, oppressed by high taxes, find themselves in an extraordinary situation as an arrogant officer challenges them to a game of cricket as a wager to avoid the taxes.  


4) DEEWAR (1975) 
It is a crime-drama film directed by Yash Chopra, written by Salim-Javed, and starring Amitabh Bachchan and Shashi Kapoor. Deewaar tells the story of two impoverished brothers who, after their family is betrayed by the misplaced idealism of their father, struggle to survive on the streets of Mumbai.  


5) THE LEGEND OF BHAGAT SINGH (2002) 
It is a historical biographical film about Bhagat Singh, a freedom fighter who fought for Indian independence. It was directed by Rajkumar Santoshi and starred Ajay Devgan, Sushant Singh, and Ian Davies.  


6) MUGHAL E AZAM (1960) 
It is a film directed by K. Asif and produced by Shapoorji Pallonji. Starring Prithviraj Kapoor, Dilip Kumar, Madhubala, and Durga Khote, the historical epic follows the love affair between Mughal Prince Salim (who went on to become Emperor Jahangir) and Anarkali, a court dancer.  


7) PURAB AUR PASCHIM (1970) 
The movie was produced and directed by Manoj Kumar, and it stars Manoj Kumar, Saira Banu, Ashok Kumar, Pran and Prem Chopra in the lead roles. Bharat( Manoj Kumar) is a patriotic Indian who's father was an Independence fighter. He goes to London and is disappointed to see that the NRI's staying there criticized everything Indian and were wasting their life away.  


8) DIL WALE DHULANIYA LE JAYENGE (1995) 
It is a 1995 Indian romantic comedy musical film. It was written and directed by debutante director Aditya Chopra, produced by his father Yash Chopra, and stars Shahrukh Khan and Kajol.  


9) TAARE ZAMEEN PAR (2007) 
This is a story of an eight year old boy who is thought to be lazy and a troublemaker, until the new art teacher(Amir Khan) has the patience and compassion to discover the real problem behind his struggle in school. Movie stars Amir Khan, Darsheel Safari and Tisca Chopra.  


10) GOLMAAL (1979) 
It is a comedy movie directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee. The film was produced by Mukherjee and N.C.Sippy with music by Rahul Dev Burman. Ramprasad(Amol Palekar) is a recent college graduate who finds a job under a perfectionist, Bhavani Shankar, who believes that a man without a mustache is a man without a character.
